Rinne was worried about me, the employee who had suddenly stopped going to work. She had been visiting me daily at a fixed time, even though it was the rainy season and the typhoon season. Today, she came to my house when the typhoon was approaching, but she didn’t let that stop her. She was soaked with bishobisho, her umbrella was broken, and the rain and wind were getting stronger.
I opened the door to see Rinne standing in front of me. She was wearing a short skirt and a tight t-shirt, and her long black hair was messy from the storm. “You were at home after all? I was worried,” she said, her eyes filled with concern.
We spent the night together, talking and sharing our feelings. Rinne told me that she had always thought of me as a friend, and she was glad that I had come to her when I was struggling. She promised to support me in any way she could, and I felt a sense of belonging for the first time in a long time.
As the typhoon passed and the rain stopped, we went out to see the damage. The streets were deserted and the sky was clear, but we could see the impact of the storm in the debris and downed power lines. Rinne and I walked together, holding hands, and I felt a sense of hope for the first time in a long time.
